As temperatures rise and rainfall increases in spring, air humidity often exceeds 70% and can reach over 90%. For paper products, this is undoubtedly a “sensitive period.” Moisture can cause deformation, mold, blurred printing, and reduced strength, seriously affecting usability and preservation. As a paper packaging factory with over 40 years of industry experience, Double Paper Products has established a systematic moisture-proof control system from sourcing to delivery.
I. Why Is Paper Prone to Moisture?
Paper is primarily made of plant fibers, which are porous and hydrophilic. Plant fibers contain abundant hydrophilic groups (hydroxyl groups) that actively absorb moisture from the air. The porous structure of paper creates a large specific surface area, making it easier to absorb and retain water vapor. Large temperature differences between day and night in spring can also cause condensation to form directly on the paper surface. Therefore, moisture protection must be integrated throughout the entire chain: materials, production, warehousing, and logistics.
II. Double Paper Products’ Moisture-Proof Control Measures
1. Raw Material and Process Moisture Protection
Double Paper Products selects high-quality base paper and strictly controls water absorbency. For custom paper packaging requiring higher moisture resistance, we offer lamination (glossy or matte) – a protective film applied to the printed surface that effectively blocks moisture and reduces the risk of dampness, while also improving scratch resistance. Our Offset Printing Center is equipped with multiple varnishing machines, allowing flexible choices between lamination and UV varnishing based on product requirements.
2. Production and Warehousing Environment Control
Double Paper Products’ Hongmei, Dongguan production base covers 100,000 square meters. Warehouses are strictly sealed and moisture-isolated. All paper and finished cartons are placed on moisture-proof pallets, at least 20cm off the ground to prevent ground moisture penetration. We procure paper precisely based on customer orders, minimizing storage time in humid environments and preventing moisture damage from prolonged accumulation.
3. Logistics Protection
Double Paper Products strictly uses covered trucks for logistics to avoid exposure during rainy days. Before shipment, container sealing and dryness are inspected to ensure moisture-free transport. Our well-developed transportation network not only reduces logistics costs but also provides reliable protection against moisture.
III. How to Prevent Moisture After Receiving Goods?
Once cartons leave our controlled factory environment and enter your warehouse or home, proper storage is equally critical:
Receiving Inspection: Immediately check outer packaging for water stains, damage, or mold. Remove outer stretch film as soon as possible to allow cartons to acclimate to ambient humidity.
Storage Environment: Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from water sources. Never place directly on concrete floors or against walls. Use shelves or pallets, keeping at least 20cm above the ground.
Daily Tips: During humid seasons, close south-facing windows to reduce external moisture ingress. Unformed cartons should be stored flat, avoiding excessive stacking that can cause bottom layers to stick and deform when damp.
Emergency Treatment: If paper becomes slightly damp, lay it flat in a dry, ventilated area to air-dry naturally. Do not expose to direct sunlight or place near heating equipment, as this can cause deformation and brittleness.
Paper moisture protection is a “relay race” from factory to user. With over 40 years of experience, advanced equipment, and strict quality control, Double Paper Products provides reliable corrugated cartons and custom paper packaging. Proactive moisture-proof measures ensure quality every step of the way.
